SD8 Board Passes Two of Three Readings for its 2021-2022 Budget

Note correction to budget amounts (May 13, 2021).

At an Open Board Meeting of the Board of Education of School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake), on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, the Board passed two readings of its proposed 2021-2022 annual budget.

“Boards around the province including here in SD8 are faced with both decreasing revenues and increasing costs next year,” said Board Chair Lenora Trenaman. “Our Board is pleased to be considering a balanced budget proposal from staff under these challenging financial circumstances.”

The total proposed budget for 2021-2022 is $72,132,770, as compared with $74,132,770 for the current year (2020-2021).

“The proposed 2021-2022 annual budget is a balanced budget that continues funding of core educational services and conserves supports for vulnerable students,” stated Superintendent of School Dr. Christine Perkins.

The Board has scheduled a meeting at 12:30PM on Friday, May 14, 2021 to consider a third reading of the budget.
