Mrs. MacKay message Feb. 18th

Happy long weekend Rosemont families,

I hope you are all able to spend some quality family time together this Family Day weekend.

Upcoming dates:

  • Monday, Feb. 21 - Family Day Stat - no school
  • Wednesday, Feb. 23 - Pink Shirt Day
  • Thursday, Feb. 24 - Nelson Family of Schools Facility Planning meeting:

February 24, 2022 - Nelson Family of Schools Presentation

Swimming Lessons:

Exciting news – I have been in connection with the NDCC, and I am pleased to announce that after Spring Break, swimming lessons will be offered to all Rosemont students K-5.   Each student will participate in 5 lessons (once/week for 5 weeks).  To get the students grouped in appropriate lessons, your child will be bringing home a simple questionnaire for you to fill out.  It needs to be returned to the school no later than Friday, March 4, 2022.  A digital copy has also been attached.

Student Learning Survey:

During the months of January to April, School District #8 is participating in the 2022 Ministry of Education Electronic Anonymous Student Learning Survey Project in cooperation with all other school districts throughout the province.

Parents/Guardians/Caregivers can complete the online Anonymous Student Learning Surveys any time before 11:59 pm April 29th, 2022, providing immediate results to the school and the district.  This is VERY helpful data for Rosemont School and directly informs our school goals and direction.

Grade 4 Rosemont students will complete the survey at school.

 To complete the survey:

Go to www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey/access.htm
Under the section Direct Access – no logon number required select:

District: the name of your child’s district
School: the name of your child’s school
Language: the language of your choice

Complete the survey by clicking on the appropriate circle to answer each question.  Move to the next set of questions by clicking on the right arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen. Click on the left arrow to navigate backwards.
When you are finished the survey, you will get a message “Thank you for sharing your views”.
Once complete, your school will have the results immediately.

Student Rapid Antigen Tests:

Each student in attendance on Thursday, Feb.17th was sent home with a box of 5 rapid tests. If your child was not at school on Thursday, please tell them to visit the office to claim their rapid tests.

2022-2023 School Year:

If you already know your child(ren) will not be attending Rosemont School next year (besides our Grade 5s moving on to Trafalgar), could you please let me know?  We are diligently working to ensure next year registration numbers are as accurate as possible as this really helps with a smooth start to the school year in regard to classes, staffing and resources.

As well, please let any community members know we are gratefully accepting Kindergarten registrations for our littlest learners!

As always, if you need to talk, please connect with me in person outside before/after school, or via email, phone or text (250)509-2050.

See you Tuesday,

Lindsay
